outcomes of patterns in noisy and dynamic data call

summary

This program of work aims to use artificial intelligence (AI) to process noisy and dynamic data in order to produce outcomes that provide decision superiority to Australian Defence.

This may include the ability to fuse data and construct causal models from a wide range of modalities and diverse forms, in large volumes, and collected at varied rates. The diverse data types may range from physically measured sensor data to discrete or tokenised data such as in natural language documents.

applications

We received 33 applications from different industries and disciplines. Most applications were from universities (55%), followed by SMEs (39%) and then one prime (3%).

Applicants were located in most states in Australia. But South Australia and Victoria were strongly represented, with 70% of applicants located in these states.

funded projects

6 projects (18.1% success rate) received funding of up to $100,000 for 6 months, to undertake a literature and proof of concept experimentation. Five of these projects were from universities and the other one project was from a prime.

The projects will be completed at the end of June. Some projects may progress to a second phase of funding to progress and implement their concept.
