DICTA 2024 travel scholarship
DAIRNet is pleased to promote the DICTA 2024 Conference and travel scholarships.
DICTA is the premier conference organized in Australia on computer vision, image processing, pattern recognition, and related areas. DICTA was established in 1991 as a flagship conference of the Australian Pattern Recognition Society (APRS) and has been historically co-sponsored technically by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) is the Platinum sponsor of DICTA 2024.
The 25th DICTA 2024 conference will be held in Novotel Perth Murray Street, Perth from November 27-29, preceded by workshops on November 26 at The University of Western Australia. DICTA 2024 will feature regular and special sessions, industry demonstrations and panels, journal-to-conference track, challenges, and keynote talks from distinguished speakers.
DSTG is offering to support student researchers to attend the DICTA conference to help promote their careers in AI and Defence research. Defence is interested in a broad set of AI and computer vision research areas from sensing and processing unusual imagery types (radar, hyperspectral), to novel computing for AI (neuromorphic, quantum), to ethical AI, and more. Applicants are encouraged to consider how Defence relevant datasets, such as SARFish, can benefit their research. DAIRNet is administering the scholarships on behalf of DSTG.
As part of attending the conference you will automatically become a member of the APRS.
This travel scholarship is for up to $2,500, to cover the costs of:
- Registration ($690)
- Return flights
- Accommodation for 3 nights
- Additional transportation (for example trains and taxis)
Eligibility and conditions
- Each scholarship will be up to $2,500 to cover registration, flights, accommodation and transport. Costs above $2,500 are to be covered by the successful recipient.
- Post graduate research students (current full-time/part-time or within 12 months of graduation at time of conference) are eligible.
- Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
- Individuals who have previously or are currently undertaking Defence-related AI research or are interested in undertaking AI-related research that could be applied to Defence.
- Within one month of returning from the conference, the successful recipients must submit a report to DAIRNet outlining the highlights and outcomes gained by attending the conference.
- Applications close Thursday, 12 September 2024.
